SUBJECT: Puster PTO Newsletter Back to School

August 8, 2023
Hello Leopard Families!

We had quite a few new families join the PTO last night, so I think it's worth resending the August Newsletter.

Thank you to everyone who made Meet the Teacher a success!  We couldn't have done it without a rock star Spirit Wear team and fantastic PTO Board ready and willing to help!

We welcomed back many familiar faces and several new friends to PTO.  Thank you to everyone who has joined so far and please invite your friends and family to join us as well.  What is unique our organization is your membership dues and donations stay here the school.  100% of our money earned is used for your student, the staff, and teachers at Puster.  Thank you in advance for all that you do for our school!

The first day is almost here and our family has been going down the checklists to make sure we are ready!  Hopefully everyone is nearing the end of their lists and ready for that magical moment on the first day when your child walks into their classroom.  For those who need some fellowship on the First Day, please join us in the Cafeteria for Tears & Cheers from 7:30-8:30am.  We'd love to have you!

Only 2 more sleeps until the First Day!  See everyone bright and early on Wed morning!  I'll be the one with a venti coffee.

FAQs

What is Leopard Drive?

Leopard Drive is our annual fundraiser that allows the PTO to fund great programs and events all year long.  Any amount is welcome, but we'd love for families to consider $100 per student.  All donations stay here at Puster for student and staff use.

I am at multiple schools and each school has a Leopard Drive.  What's the difference?

Each school has their own Leopard Drive.  When you donate to a specific school, the money stays at that school to help fund their specific events.

What is the Foundation for Lovejoy Schools?

The Foundation for Lovejoy Schools involves the community in generating and distributing funds, property, and gifts that enhance the educational experience in Lovejoy ISD.  The Foundation for Lovejoy Schools benefits the students, faculty, graduates, and staff of LISD.

What is the difference between Leopard Drive and donating to the Foundation?

The Foundation benefits all of Lovejoy ISD whereas Leopard Drive benefits the specific school where you donated.  Both entities work for your student on the micro and macro scale.

Do I have to volunteer if I join the PTO?

No!  Volunteering is completely optional!  PTO membership allows us to provide amazing programs and events throughout the school year that benefit every student at Puster.  100% of the membership dues stay at Puster Elementary.  However, If you are looking to get connected to PTO, we have plenty of opportunities available!  Please feel free to contact anyone in PTO and we will be happy to help!

Looking forward to a fantastic year!

Puster Elementary Yearbook

The PES Yearbook committee would love to have your First Day of School photos! Please send to Pusteryb@gmail.com by August 30.

Additionally, while completing your annual registration forms on PowerSchool, the default setting is to OPT OUT. If you DO want your child to appear in the yearbook, please be sure to UNCHECK this box.

Be a Puster Volunteer

Puster Elementary is a parent volunteer-friendly school! We hope you will consider being a room parent, chaperoning field trips, volunteering for recess and lunch duties, making copies for teachers, helping with tutorials, and choosing many other opportunities to help our students thrive.

So that we can help establish our campus routines and rituals, parents are asked not to volunteer for the first two weeks of school, through August 18th. Please CLICK BELOW if you are interested in any volunteer opportunities! For interested volunteers, please be on the lookout for a mandatory Volunteer Application (a background check form) in the upcoming weeks.
